Reconfigure is a series that plays with deconstruction and reunification. Disparate visual pieces like shadows, light and torn paper are used to "map out" the initial composition for the paintings. The rest of the journey for each painting is a continuous pursuit of how the disparate pieces as marks, shapes, colors and patterns live together. This reconfiguration takes place so that ultimately these elements find a new life. This working process bleeds into the concept and informs the outcome. Beyond formal investigation, each piece aims to embody something about the essence of where the initial influence came from – a way of upholding a truth about its origin.
